A NOTE FROM OUR ESSENCE AND CONNECTION SESSION

You are not defined by your roles.

Somewhere underneath the titles, the to-do lists, and the people counting on you — there's a version of you that's been waiting to breathe again.

THE THING ABOUT ROLES

We're wired to define ourselves by what we do.

Parent. Partner. Professional. Caregiver. The responsible one. The busy one. The one who holds everything together. These roles are real — and many of them matter deeply. But they are not the whole of who you are.

Most of us don't notice the drift. It happens gradually: the quiet parts of ourselves get quieter, our own preferences blur into the background, and one day we realize we can't quite remember what we actually enjoy — or what we value when no one's asking anything of us.

That's not a character flaw. It's what happens when we live in service of our roles for long enough without ever returning to ourselves - our ESSENCE.

YOUR ESSENCE

Your essence is who you are when you're not performing.

Not your accomplishments. Not your productivity. Not the version of you that shows up on time and handles all the things.

Essence is the part of you that has a reaction to a piece of music before your brain catches up. It's the things you're drawn to for no practical reason. It's the feelings you have that don't fit neatly into any of your roles — and don't need to.

You don't lose your essence. It doesn't go anywhere. But it does get quieter when we stop making space for it.

YOUR GUIDED MEDITATION

A few minutes to come back to yourself.

This short meditation isn’t about clearing your mind or achieving anything. It’s an invitation to set down your roles for a moment - and remember what’s underneath them. You don’t have to perform or produce. You just have to be open.

Find a quiet moment and spend some time exploring.

Please note: This is the first time I’ve recorded a meditation.

WHAT’S NEXT

There's more space available to you.

Today was a beginning, not a one-time event. If something stirred during our time together — an idea, a question, a quiet pull toward something — that's worth paying attention to.
